Founded in 2023 by Dr. Andrew Pierce — who previously founded Denver Animal Emergency in 2016 before merging it into BluePearl Lake Norman — Dry Pond Animal Hospital and Pet Resort occupies a freshly renovated 11,000 square foot facility on Natalie Commons Dr in Denver, combining full-service veterinary medicine with one of the most comprehensive canine resort experiences west of Lake Norman. Dr. Pierce is joined by Dr. Joseph Allender, a Lincolnton native whose path to veterinary medicine included a decade of service on nuclear submarines in the U.S. Navy, a career in offshore oil drilling, and an NC State College of Veterinary Medicine DVM — all before returning home to practice alongside Dr. Pierce, whose background in emergency and critical care brings a distinctive preventive medicine lens to primary care. The veterinary team also includes Drs. Rebecca Schenck, Amanda DeMaster, Carolyn Ives, and Jessica Anderson, rounding out a six-doctor roster across a practice that offers wellness and sick care, dentistry, boarding, daycare, grooming, and live webcam monitoring — with four artificial turf yards, a swimming pool, an indoor gym, and daily playgroups making this as much a destination for pets as it is a hospital.
